The Special Adviser to Kebbi State Governor on Infrastructural Development, Abubakar Malam, has described the recent Argungu road dualization and the assessment of Dabai-Mahuta-Koko road as a land mark achievement of Governor Nasir Idris.
He told newsmen in Birnin Kebbi that the two projects were of enormous socioeconomic benefit for Kebbi North and Kebbi South senatorial districts as well as the State at large because of their relevance in the transportation of goods and services
He said due to Governor Idris concerted efforts, the abandoned 89 kilometre Dabai-Mahuta-Koko road had the attention of President Bola Tinubu and Engineers from the Federal Ministry of Works were sent to assess the stage of work and possible revocation and subsequent handing over to state government for reconstruction.
The Special Adviser explained that the 89-kilometer road, awarded to Great Northern International Company on December 5th, 2021, has seen only five kilometers completed and In response, the Kebbi State Government, has demanded that the project be revoked and handed over it for timely completion.
Talking on the Argungu township roads dualization, Malam said the contract sum of 7.23b Naira covered road construction, drainage system and installation of solar street lights, stressing that Governor Idris was in Argungu to fulfil part of his campaign promises saying “I am glad to state that we have fulfilled 50 to 60 per cent of our campaign promises’.
While assuring that government had already mobilised the contractor to site with 40 per cent down payment of the contract sum, the Special Adviser said money for the project had been kept aside: “We don’t award contract unless we have the money at hand, because we don’t want to leave any abandoned project in this regime, therefore, all projects ongoing must be completed.”
The politician also the Chairman of Special Advisers Forum as well as the traditional title holder of Shatiman Gwandu urged the people of Kebbi State to continue supporting the policies and programmes of Governor Idris as he thrived to move the state to higher heights of development.
