Awka Catholic Diocese launches 2025 laity week

The Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria (CLCN), Awka Diocese, has launched its 2025 Laity Week on Sunday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Agulu, Anambra State.
The event, themed “Upholding and Promoting the Liturgy among Catholics,” was officially opened by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor.
Bishop Ezeokafor praised the chosen theme, emphasizing its importance in spreading the word of God.
He encouraged parishioners to actively participate in the week’s activities, highlighting opportunities for laity mobilization, education, and fundraising to support ongoing Diocesan projects.
He also urged attendees to pray for Nigeria and for parents to instill strong moral and social values in their children.
CLCN Awka Diocese President, Hon. (Sir) Joseph Igwebuike, expressed gratitude to Bishop Ezeokafor and those who contributed to the successful launch.
The programme also featured presentation of award of Excellence in the governance of Anambra State to Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Community Service Award to the Managing Director of Anambra State ICT Agency, Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, Hon Ken Eric Kenny Maduagqu, Hon Barrister Ugochukwu Ibeneme, Senator Victor Umeh, Dr George Muoghalu, Sir Kanayo Ughamadu, APGA National Chairman, Barrister Sly Ezeokwnwa and Lady Jessie Ifeoma Udoka, among others.
