Badagry-Sokoto Super Highway: Kebbi to enjoy 258 kms- Works Commissioner

The Kebbi State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engineer Abdullahi Umar Faruk says the state would open up for transborder businesses with the construction of Badagry-Sokoto Superhighway with about 258 km length to be constructed across some towns and villages in the state.

The Commissioner, while speaking to Newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, stated that the length of the road from Sokoto State would pass through Augie, Argungu, Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo, Bunza, Suru and Bagudo Local Government Areas before proceeding through Niger, Kwara and Southwest States to Badagry.

Engineer Faruk disclosed that the dual three-lane road would pass through farmlands, homes and businesses of the massess that woukd definitely require compensation, stressing out that Governor Nasir Idris was ready to provide all necessary assistance to that effect to facilitate the success of the project.

He said that the Governor had instructed the Ministry to provide professional technical advice that would ensure the smooth flagg off the superhighway scheduled to be performed in the state in August by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that the pride of the Governor was to foster development for the state and its people.

Engineer Faruk commended the efforts of Governor Nasir Idris at ensuring that the project of such magnitude was not only flagged off in Kebbi but his people would have renewed confidence in his governance, adding further that he was directed to relocate to the ultramodern state Secretariat in order to ensure its completion before the visit of President Tinubu.

The Commissioner disclosed that the fifty year abandoned Trans African project meant to link Nigeria with other West African Countries was activated by the APC regime, disclosing that rail lines would be provided alongside the roads to facilitate transportation of goods and services for the socioeconomic growth of the people.

He therefore called on the people of the state to rally round the project oriented Governor, Comrade Nadir Idris, and provide necessary support in order to facilitate his drive of providing dividends of democracy to them, urging them to turn out en mass and vote APC candidates into office in the forthcoming Local Government Chairmanship and Councillorship elections across the state.
