Bagudo hospital blast: Gas cylinder explosion, not bomb blast- Kebbi SSG

The Kebbi State Government has clarified the incident that occurred at the General Hospital, Bagudo, Bagudo Local Government Area.
in the early hours of Tuesday, 30th December, 2025, stressing that it was an explosion caused by fire and not a bomb blast widely insinuated and reported on social media.
The Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala Tafida, while speaking to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi confirmed that preliminary findings and reports from security agencies indicated that the loud explosion emanated from a fire incident within the hospital staff quarters from an expoded cooking gas cylinder not from any explosive device.
According to the SSG, Kebbi State Government was working closely with the Police and other security agencies, who had since taken full control of the situation by deploying health personnel and staff of State Emergency Management Agency for necessary actions.
While assuring residents that there was no loss of life even though a building was affected, occupants had already evacuated safely before the incident, SSG urged the general public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic.
He emphasized that all security agencies, including the Police, Military, and other relevant units, were on top of the matter, commending theit swift response and for promptly securing the area and ensuring public safety.
Tafida said: “Residents are once again assured of the government’s commitment to the safety and security of their lives and property across the state”.
