Bauchi Governor, Bala commends state poly, matriculates 5000

Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, (ATAP), Bauchi has matriculated about 5000 students for its 2018/2019 academic session.
Speaking at the occasion, the State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed reaffirmed the determination of his administration to improve the condition of tertiary institutions by ensuring timely release of funds for effective and efficient educational development.
Governor Bala, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Muhammad Sabi’u Baba, assured of total reformation of the education sector in the state through massive recruitment of qualified teachers and other supporting staff.
The Governor assured that the administration would focus on vocational education as part of efforts to provide the required manpower in industries.
He said the resolve of his administration to declare state of emergency on education sector became imperative due to the challenges bedeviling the sector in the state which positioned the state as most background in the country.
The governor expressed appreciation that despite the challenges facing the institution, it has recorded remarkable achievements especially in the area of complementing the efforts of government towards the provision of qualitative education to students and while commending them for a good job task them to show more commitment to improve the standard of the institution as best in country.
The Rector of the institution, Dr. Sulaiman Muhammad Lame, informed the governor that the current management has successfully mobilized its scare human and financial resources in order to achieve 100 percent accreditation of courses in addition to expanding students’ enrollment.
He noted that the polytechnic is running professional courses in science technology and vocational programmes at certificate level to assist students to become self reliant and become useful members of the society.
Dr. Lame pledged the support of the institution to the present administration in order to achieve its laudable programmes initiated geared towards Youth and women development.
The Rector, who recalled that matriculation was a cardinal requirement for admitting students as bonafide members of the polytechnic, said the management would not tolerate involvement of students in examination malpractice and other social vices.
