Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has declared that it is unacceptable for the Federal Government to continue to say that it cannot secure this country, cannot secure communities.
The Governor who was addressing Traditional rulers, LGCs Chairmen and other stakeholders in the state during the breaking of Ramadan fasting at the Banquet Hall of the Government House said that, “We have the resources to do it. I really pity our father, the President and Commander in Chief, Muhammadu Buhari because he really wants to do it but he’s not being supported” .
Bala Mohammed said that, “I, as a Governor, head of a sub-national administration, I am ready to work with the Federal Government to make sure we secure our state and our country”.
He added that, “It is our collective responsibility, we cannot just abdicate that responsibility and part of it is to accord the dignity of the people around, especially the traditional institution, the security agencies, the human capital that we have, that is the civil servants and so on”.
The Governor disclosed that, “Bandits are coming from everywhere. I was in Abuja when I heard that they struck in Zaki, this is unacceptable. We are imploring you to deepen your monitoring and Evaluation” .
“We are establishing a very robust security infrastructure in the state, thanks to the passage of the bill by the State House of Assembly and we will soon employ over 2,000 youths to complement what you are doing at the traditional rulers level so that we will complement the work of our regular security agencies, the Police and the DSS”, he assured.
He further assured that the rules of engagement will be such that will be approved by the Police, the DSS and the military so that there is no conflict in whatever we are doing. Vigilante can be unsecured if they are not well regulated and we are very conscious of that”.
The Governor assured that, “We are doing it because, it is a multidimensional approach and we have to do it with scare resources. Unfortunately, we came at a time when the resources are not much, but we cannot be the weeping boys, we cannot be the weeping girls, we cannot be kind and say that we cannot do it”.
According to the Governor, “Leadership is given by God and God has given me leadership and I know God knows that I can do it and that is why I must use the little resources and do the best that I can” .
“What you see us buying, we do so because we have improved our IGR from local authorities and from the state and we will continue to do that”,he also said.
Bala Mohammed concluded saying, “What we will leave behind is a legacy of infrastructure and services and security. If I can produce drones in all the Emirates where I will be monitoring from the comfort of my room, I will do that by the grace of God, so that we will know what is happening”.
