Bauchi NUJ chair, GM, Albarka Radio in 5-member Wikki Tourists FC Interim Management

In its bid to redeem the battered football image of the state-owned Wikki Tourists FC, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has approved the immediate constitution of a 5-man Interim Management Committee for the Club. 

The Interim Management Committee is headed by Aminu Dalhatu Umar while other members are Alhassan Ishak Mohammed; Dauda Mohammed Chiroma, General Manager of Albarka FM, Umar Sa’idu, Chairman of NUJ, Bauchi State Council, former Deputy National President of SWAN and Sa’adu Chadi who is the Secretary. 

The announcement is contained in a press from the Ministry of Youths and Sports, by the Information Officer, Bashir Shehu.

The released contained that: “The Bauchi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development is pleased to announce that His Excellency, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has given his official approval to the list of individuals comprising the interim management team for the esteemed Wikki Tourist Football Club.

“This move underscores the government’s commitment to revitalize and strengthen the operations of the state’s cherished football institution,” the release further contained.

The newly appointed interim management team is composed of highly experienced and dedicated professionals, each bringing a wealth of expertise in various aspects of football management. 

The government believes that their collective skills are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the club’s future endeavors, from player development to administrative efficiency. 

According to the release, “The Wikki Tourist Football Club has a rich history and legacy that has contributed to the state’s sports culture for years. With the backing of the state government and the newly appointed interim management, the club is poised to embark on a journey of rejuvenation and growth.

“His Excellency is eager to witness the strides that the interim management will take towards enhancing the club’s performance, nurturing young talent, and promoting a spirit of sportsmanship and community engagement,” the release concluded.

Recall that, Wikki Tourists FC was relegated to the second tier of professional football in Nigeria at the end of the abridge football season last year due to what many football enthusiasts associated with lack of competence by the immediate past Management Committee.
