Behold Sanusi Mikailu Sami Gomo III, the new Emir of Zuru

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has approved the appointment of Sanusi Mikailu Sami the new Emir of Zuru who having scored seven out of the nine casted votes by king makers, defeating six other contestants.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abubakar Umar Dutsinmari, who announced this on Thursday at the palace of Emir of Zuru also explained that the appointment followed the submission of three names by the Zuru Emirate Council’s Kingmakers to the Governor.

“In accordance with constitutional provisions and by exercising the powers vested in him, thr Governor approved Alhaji Sanusi Mikail Sami as the new Emir of Zuru, now officially recognized as Gomo III,” he further explained.

Presenting the letter of approval to the monarch, Dutsinmari said his election was based on his track record of humility, adherence to the doctrines of the traditional institution as well as being apparent heir to the throne.

He therefore urged the monarch to uphold the good virtues of the institution, thrive to pursue interests that would foster peace and growth in Zuru Emirates besides promoting the developmental strides of Governor Idris in the State.

In his remarks, the new Emir expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and to Governor Nasir Idris for the confidence reposed in him and called on the people to remain peaceful, loyal, and united, assuring them of an open-door policy and inclusive leadership.

He then commended the Chief of Wasagu Chiefdom, who acted as Emir of Zuru, for his capable stewardship during the transitional period and pledged to continue supporting the people of the Emirate as he had always done.
