Benue moves to establish own Lotto company

The Benue State Sports Marketing and Lottery Board (BSSMLB) has commenced arrangements to establish a state-owned lotto company, aimed at enhancing internally generated revenue for the state.

The Executive Secretary of the board, Hon. Michael Uper, disclosed this during a meeting with Mr. Kelani Opeyemi, Co-founder of Gaim Technologies Limited, a renowned company specializing in innovative software solutions for the lottery and gaming industry.

The meeting, which held on Thursday in Lagos, provided a platform for discussions on the strategies and requirements for establishing a World–Class Lotto Company for the state.

Hon. Uper, who led the BSSMLB delegation, emphasized the need for Benue to own a lotto company that will contribute more to the state IGR.

Mr. Gadafi Asemanya, Head of Enforcement Compliance & Regulations at BSSMLB said, “We also are looking at how we can come into the market, ensure transparency, accountability and build trust for our customers and generate revenue for the state.”

In response, Mr. Opeyemi provided a detailed explanation of the requirements for establishing a state-owned lotto company, assuring the BSSMLB delegation of his company’s willingness to assist in setting up the company.

“We have assisted in setting up several reputable gaming and lottery companies in Nigeria and beyond, and we are committed to delivering a great job for Benue State, “ Mr. Opeyemi said.

Gaim Technologies Limited, with its expertise in innovative software solutions, product consultancy, and data analysis, is poised to play a key role in the establishment of the Benue State Lotto Company.

As part of the planned establishment, the BSSMLB plans to forward a proposal to Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia for approval. The proposed company is expected to generate significant revenue for the state and create employment opportunities for its citizens.

The move to establish Benue lotto company is part of efforts to reposition the BSSMLB and enhance internally generated revenue for the state.
