Comrade Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has alerted the Kebbi Elders Forum about attempts by some politicians to sabotage the state’s economic growth.
These politicians are allegedly spreading false alarms about insecurity in the state to scare away foreign investors who have shown interest in establishing industries in Kebbi.
This was contained in a statement by Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to Kebbi State Governor.
The Governor exposed the attempts being made by the desperate, ambitious and worthless politicians at the opening ceremony of an Economic Summit organised by the Kebbi State elders forum, Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi.
Governor Idris noted that while no state is completely free of security challenges, Kebbi is comparatively better off due to his administration’s investment in commitment and support for the security agencies in the state.
The Governor identified desperate and ambitious politicians as saboteurs who are spreading unnecessary alarms about insecurity to undermine the peace and progress of the state.
Governor Idris administration has provided over one hundred Hilux vehicles and five thousand motorcycles to the security agencies, which has yielded the desired results in maintaining peace and unity in the state.
Governor Idris noted that while no state is completely free from security challenges, Kebbi is comparatively better off due to his administration’s investments in security. The Governor urged the elders to call these saboteurs to order in the interest of the state’s development.
The Governor’s concerns are valid, considering the previous allegations against former Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, who allegedly imported hooligans and political thugs to create chaos in the state.
The Kebbi Elders Forum’s Economic Summit aims to bring together policymakers, scholars, entrepreneurs, and traditional rulers to exchange ideas and forge partnerships for the state’s development.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the Forum Major-General (Senator) Muhammadu Magoro, Galadiman Zuru has disclosed that the forum is deeply committed to promoting unity, peace, progress and sustainable development of Kebbi State, “which focuses on socio-economic development as the cornerstone of peace, security, stability and growth “
