One of the buildings set alight by rampaging Muslims
By Akanji Alowolodu, Bauchi
Barely one week after Deborah Samuel was killed in Sokoto over alleged blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad (SAW), another Christian lady narrowly escaped jungle justice in Katanga, Headquarters of Warji LGA of Bauchi State.
Reports from the area indicated that Muslim youths mounted a serious search for the lady immediately after the Jummaat prayers but could not find her because it was said that having got wind of the impending danger, she was whisked away to safety.
Pained by not seeing the lady to kill her, the irate Muslim youths started destroying properties belonging to Christians in area setting a few buildings ablaze just as a few Christians including a Pastor of ECWA church were said to have been injured.
A leader of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), in the state confirmed the situation telling our Correspondent that he had called the Police Commissioner to intimate him as well as the the SSA to the Governor of Bauchi State on Christian Religious Affairs.
He however called on the Christian community in the state not to allow the situation to degenarate even though they have to protect themselves from the attackers assuring that security operatives will do everything possible to safeguard lives and properties.
All efforts to get confirmation of the situation officially from the State Police Command failed as the PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili neither picked up the phone when his number was called severally nor reply to the sms and whatsapp messages sent to his mobile phone number number.
