Cross River State Government has indicated it will clamp-down on illegal private guard operations and companies in the state.

The state government is embarking on operation “Show your licence 2020” to identify those registered so that criminals do not hide under the flag of private guards operations to perpetuate their nefarious activities.

The special adviser to the governor on state security, Dr Alfred Mboto said the identification of licences is to identify and capture all private guard operatives in the state.

Mboto represented Governor Ben Ayade when he called at the headquarters of the Private Guard Department of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Cross River State command.

“We are worried that criminals may want to pose as private guards to gain access into corporate/premises for robbery, kidnapping and other crimes, which reason the operation ‘Show your licence’ is imperative.”

To this end, he expressed his happiness with the number of arrests made and the number of companies sealed in the last six months.

The Governor said he is confident that the ongoing directive on the use of PSID number by all private guard operatives nationwide will further enhance the war against criminals in the state.

Mboto described activities of the Private Guard Departmentas a boost to the overall war against crime in the state.

He has also charged the corps to sustain collaboration with the state government in the area of peace and security towards driving the state to fulfilling the dreams and aspiration of the administration.
