Excitement as Kebbi health institution recalls suspended 260 students to continue studies

About 260 students affected by the rioting at the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega, Kebbi State, would soon be recalled to continue with their National Diploma, (ND), programmes.
Students of the College rioted last year in protest against non accreditation of courses.
The situation had officially stabilised as Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris had approved the release of N60 million for the accreditation of eight academic programmes of the College by the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, now ongoing and nearing completion.
The courses were, Community and Environmental Health, Pharmacy Technician, Health Information, Medical Lab., Health Education and Promotion, Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as Public Health.
The Provost of the College, Hussaini Aliyu, said, students affected by the October 17th, 2024, suspension would soon be recalled on completion of accreditation to continue with their studies leading to the award of the National Diploma, ND.
“Additionally, the education-friendly Governor has approved the renovation of the students’ hostels as part of the accreditation process”, the Provost said.
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar Tunga, added that, the ICT Centre and Laboratory including equipment, are fully in place provided by Governor Idris to facilitate accreditation by the NBTE aimed at enhancing learning and research.
