Top stakeholders in Nigeria’s football management have expressed deep concern over the continuous occupation of the secretariat of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) by operatives of the Directorate of State Security Services (DSS).
As such, they demanded for the immediate withdrawal of the operatives from the Glass House or they shall mobilise Nigerians to confront them.
In a statement emailed to Apex News they described the occupation as an act of impunity, brazen attack and disturbing the peace of staffers of the NFF.
The statement was signed by Jarret Tenebe, Chief Victor Rumson Baribote, Harrison Jalla, Olajide Fashikun and Barrister Faye Jacob.
According to the statement, they had approached the leadership of the DSS in Abuja where they lodged their complaint against the conduct of the DSS who illegally occupy the Glass House.
They noted that “Their invasion of the peace of the National Assembly and the Benue state House of assembly becomes instructive here.
“Their presence is an assault on the independence and hallowed nature of the judiciary and the Supreme Court,” the statement added.
“To add legal colouration, we have already briefed Falana and Falana’s Chambers. In addition, we shall be approaching the court for contempt proceedings against the persons who have decided to strip the court of respect. The Orders of the Supreme Court cannot and should not be taken to the dogs,” they pointed out.
They noted that in view of the situation, they seek the indulgence of the Acting Director-General of the DSS, Mr Matthew Seiyefa, to tow the line of his maiden media briefing to withdraw his men immediately from the NFF as a mark of respect for the Supreme Court.
“Ambassador Chris Giwa is the only recognized President of the NFF by the pronouncement of the court. We demand he should forthwith call the Congress of the NFF to review and approve,” the statement added.
