High Court reinstates Bakari as Acting Taraba PDP Chairman
A Taraba State High Court sitting in Jalingo presided over by Justice Nuhu Adi has reinstated the embattled Taraba State Acting Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Inuwa Bakari and set aside the appointment of Abubakar Bawa, the former Special Adviser on Political Matters to the immediate past Governor of the state Architect Darius Dickson Ishaku.
In a judgement, Justice Adi declared that the appointment of Bawa was invalid, unconstitutional, null and void.
The Court restrained Bawa from perpetually parading himself as the State Chairman of the PDP and from occupying that office.
It could be recalled that the Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo had earlier struck out a case instituted by Alhaji Bakari challenging his removal as the Acting Chairman of the Party and appointment of Bawa for lack of jurisdiction after which Bakari instituted a fresh case at the State High Court which reinstated him.
Speaking with Apex News Exclusive in Jalingo, the reinstated Acting Chairman, Alhaji Bakari thanked God and his supporters who worked hard to make sure that the injustice and illegality metted on him did not stand and the media for following all the crisis to this moment.
Bakari said he challenged the appointment of Bawa not for his sake but for the party to ensure that the right thing is done as enshrined in Constitution of the Party as the position of the Chairman of the party is elective not appointive.
However, the ousted Chairman, Bawa said as far as he is concerned he is still the Chairman as he is not satisfied with the judgement.
