Hong, Northern Nigeria parliamentary secretary in First Republic dies at 84

A First Republic parliamentary secretary in the Northern Nigerian, Alhaji Haliru Zarma Hong, has died at the age of 84 years.
The family said Hong died on Wednesday 13th March, 2019 after a brief illness.
He later joined the North Eastern State civil service and later Gongola State civil service upon the creation of states.
He served in various capacities before retiring in 1983 as principal secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
The deceased held the traditional title of Zarma, one of the kingmakers of the Kilba people in Hong Local government area of Adamawa State.
He is survived by two wives, 44 children, 147 grandchildren and many relatives and dependents.
Among his surviving children are Malam Abdulkadir H. Zarma, a retired deputy permanent secretary in Adamawa State, Malam Waziri Garba, a Deputy Registrar with the University of Abuja, Dr. Ahmad Zarma, Senior Marketing Manager, Polaris Bank and Malam Mahmoud Haliru Zarma, a retired Director, Adamawa State Ministry of Agriculture.
