The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe state took a fresh twist on Saturday after a aspirants rejected the outcome of the party’s primary over elect a candidate for the 2023 House of Representatives election.
The Aspirant for the house of Representative, representing Potiskum/Nangere Hon Mohammed Adamu Chimo, who addressed journalists in his resident in Potiskum, Yobe State claimed that, the House of Representative primary was marred by irregularities, injustice and unacceptable
He alleged that a candidate was imposed on them by the Yobe State Government and “the party machinery.” totally is unacceptable by our supporters and we demand justice.
He consequently called for a direct primary election to elect the party’s House of Representatives candidate. The processes leading to the conduct of the APC primary in Potiskum/Nangere Federal Constituency. Totally is not a democracy, it is not even a consensus.
“It is sad and unfortunate that the Government of Yobe State and the entire APC machinery have taken sides with all plans perfected to subvert the electoral process in favour of an anointed candidate. ” Fatima Talba”. I’m not in supporting what I know there’s no election.
“Up till the time of this interview, we as aspirants in this election have yet to be informed of the venue, modalities and conduct of the election; that is, we were left in total darkness. We are 3 in the race which included Myself, Fatima Talba and Saliu Yarima, we didn’t reconcile ourselves to nominate one among us” he emphasized.
“In defence of democracy, therefore, we have decided to take the following courses of action: I totally reject the processes so far put in place for the election and call for direct primary election. I have constitutional right to challenge the result in a proper channel’s. There’s no election in Yobe particularly in Nangere/Potiskum constituency.
The aspirant stated that he would “institute legal processes,” which he said were expected to rectify the alleged anomalies. He called on his supporters to be law-abiding and shun all indecent and illegal behaviours. I will not accept the result, I told the party executives, National Headquarter and the reconciliation committee.
“I will not rest on my oars until victory is given to me. It is a constitutional right which no power on earth can deny anybody. This is our party. I have contributed so much to it from the days of All Pepple Party (APP).
“All, I asking for is justice. I’m waiting for the national leadership to take the right step and this must start by them submitting a dummy name to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). We have marginalize by Kare-Kate tribe, we have only one position for the world Nagere local government” he emphasized.
“I can be quoted that the name that will be taken to INEC in Abuja will be dummy name, so those celebrating should do that in moderation. I want to tell you that, I have 56 delegates out of 105. I have supporters 100% both youths, women and elderly people”
“If it is part of their calculation that we will leave the party for them, they are making a mistake. We are still waiting for the national leadership on our collective position. Iam not happy with this situation, this is not the first time. I contested 2019, they asked me to stepdown. I did still now they asked me to stepdown again. What kind of this policies we are?”
