How nemesis haunts Abubakar Malami
By Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru
The government of Kebbi State has noted the sustained campaign of calumny through fabrication of falsehood being made by former Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami against Comrade Governor Nasir Idris considered as baseless and motivated by desperation.
Malami has been engaged in orchestrating a campaign of calumny against Governor Idris and his administration.
Ordinarily, the government wouldn’t have joined issues with a frustrated desperado and self-imposed governorship aspirant being haunted by his unimaginable and unprecedented track records of criminal activities when he served as Minister of Justice.
Although his involvement in alleged several criminal activities while in office are already in the international political arena, there is a need to further highlight Malami’s own controversies, including allegations of corruption, diversion of public funds, misappropriation of EFCC recovered assets and ridiculous auctions of others to his family during his tenure as Minister of Justice.
It is equally no longer news in Nigeria that Malami was alleged to have inflated and partook in the sharing of the commission paid to consultants for the recovery of Abacha loot.
Residents of Birnin Kebbi have to date, have been witnessing frequent visits of EFCC personnel to his multi-billion naira Raahan Rice Mills, multi-billion naira Raahan University and the multi billion naira AZBIR Hotel. Notably, too are the hotels and houses located in Abuja, Kaduna, and kano, including two magnificent houses built for his children in Birnin Kebbi.
One therefore wondered why an individual who allegedly acquired enormous wealth through questionable means can shamelessly accuse Comrade Governor Nasir Idris of financial recklessness without sustainciated evidence.
It is also surprising that a person with no verifiable record of public service in any capacity or record of winning any celebrated case in any court as a legal practitioner he claimed to be, can compare himself with a nationally recognised active unionist and internationally acknowledged labour leader that has successfully led the Nigerian Union of Teachers and the Nigerian Labour Congress.
As a democratically elected Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris has demonstrated his administrative experience and political sargacity in uniting the political class which contributed to his successful transformation of the state in all sectors thereby changing the narrative of the state development.
It is also worthy of note that the track record of any patriotic politician worth his salt is to showcase verifiable contributions to community development in any sector of development and not to shamelessly claimed imaginary success story in professional service.
However, the Kebbi State government considered Abubakar Malami’s baseless, unfounded, and mischievous allegations as products of desperation and hopelessness and being haunted by his unfortunate antecedent
