IFJ Chief demands CAR authorities bring murderers of Russian journalists to justice

The President, International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), Philippe Leruth on Wednesday demanded that the authorities of the Central African Republic (CAR) bring to justice the murderers of nine Russian journalists.
“The IFJ is urging the CAR authorities to search and bring the murderers to court, as they have remained unpunished in the world.
“The IFJ recalls that murder of the journalists’ for whatever reason is the worst attack on press freedom.
“This scandal must end, and this is the reason why the IFJ is pushing for a Convention on Journalists’ and Media Staff’s Safety to be voted by the United Nations’ next General meeting.
“The IFJ is calling on all United Nations’ Member-states, and particularly the United Nations’ Security Council Member-States to support this Convention and help journalists to work more safely in the world,’’ Leruth said. (Sputnik/NAN)
