Illegal placement of billboards across pedestrian roads, median, roundabouts leads to accidents in Bauchi metro

It has been observed that Illegal placement of billboards and siganages across pedestrian roads, median and roundabouts is one of the major causes leading to accidents wthin Bauchi Metrpolis and other Urban centers across the state.
The conclusion was made among other issues discussed and decisions taken on at a round table action meeting held between Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA), Bauchi State Urban Development Board (SDB) and the State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The discussion which was organized to brainstorm, digest and provide lasting solution to the uncoordinated placement of billboards and signages took place at the Conference Hall of Bauchi State Urban Development Board where the GM of the Board served as the Chairman with DG BASEPA and his team, representative of the FRSC Sector Commandant, BSUDB staff were in attendance.

Towards the end of the interaction, the task force members decided to visit all roundabouts in the metropolis for further field deliberations.
Both at the meeting hall and on-site, fruitful discussions were held and later adjoined with some assignments given to all the involved stakeholders.
Through this coordinated effort, it is envisaged that the unlawful act at placing billboards and signages will be effectively regulated agreeing that, “We all note that placement of billboards and signages requires approval from relevant authorities” .
Members of the task force committee are to resume round table discussions as soon as they are done with the various technical assignments given to them as contained in a statement by Isyaka Laminu Badamasi, SA Media to DG BASEPA.
