The General Overseer of Palace of Priests Assembly (PPA), Dr. Otive Igbuzor, has called on women’s inclusion into government offices and parastatals in order to accelerate the level of economic growth in the country.

Igbuzor made this call during a workshop on consolidating anti-corruption platforms on Thursday in Abuja.

He said: “We use the opportunity to mark the International Women’s Day focusing on the theme- Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.

“We know that the world is facing crisis today: economic crisis, political crisis, insecurity, food crisis, climate change crisis, inequality, authority crisis (governmental, parental, ecclesiastical), moral crisis and religious crisis.

“We know from theory and practice that all these crises can be addressed only by solutions that include empowerment of women, youth and other marginalised sections of society.”

According to him, by investing in women, the government can initiate changes that will lead to a healthier, safer and more equal world for all.

He noted that “in order to do this, we require inclusive platforms, mobilising for change, organisation, co-ordination and management which are the subject matters of this training.”

He also explained that “to ensure sustainability, we will elect officials who will manage the platforms beyond the life cycle of the project. Palace of Priests Assembly (PPA) will continue to support the platforms as part of our mandate as a Church.”
