Iwoye raises alarm over Kwara Attorney-General’s role in chieftaincy dispute

Iwoye community of Ayedun, Oke- Ero local government area of Kwara state have decried purported injustice being meted out to them by the office of the attorney general of the state.
They appealed to goverrnor ,AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq cautioned the office of the state attorney- general against baise in the lingering chieftaincy dispute and other related matters in the community.
It also said that certain group within the state ministry of justice have been dropping the name of the office of the attorney-general and commissioner for Justice to shield some perpetrators of crimes within the community.
Addressing journalists in Ilorin, counsel to Iwoye community , Barrister Akinmade Abolarin , urged the goverrnor to prevail on the attorney -general to maintain neutrality in the lingering chieftaincy dispute involving the community and Obajisun, Oba Olusegun Rotimi and his supporters..
“The main issue for calling this press conference is the glaring injustice being perpetrated by a certain group of people in the ministry of justice, Ilorin Kwara state.
“We say group of people because we are in the full believe that his excellency ,malam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq does not partake in any activity capable of causing injustice”, he said ,
Flanked by some other chiefs within the community , Abolarin said on two different occasions some persons have dropped the name of the attorney -general to get those standing trial for criminal offences off the hook.
He said such excercise of powers which he said might not even be in the know of the attorney- general was an abuse of power.
The community called on the state house of assembly to also invite the attorney- general to get to the roote of the matter in the interest of justice.
“Our humble but desperate appeal is to the executive goverrnor of Kwara state,mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to public interest ,in the interest of justice and in order to prevent a continued abusr of legal process to caution the office of the attorney general and to direct him to excercise his powers and judicially and judiciously.
“We also appeal to the Kwara state house of assembly to invite the attorney general to appear before ot and explain the attorney -general’s stand in Ayedun and Iwoye matters”, the counsel submitted.
