Jos Polo Tourney: Melting pot for social, business activities — NASCO Group
The NASCO Group, sponsors of the Annual Jos Polo Tournament has described the competition as a melting pot for social, business and tourism activities.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the tournament would commence on Dec. 28, to Jan. 2.
The Group’s Corporate Communication and Compliance Advisor, Mr Haroun Audu, said on Thursday in Jos that apart from its sport value, the tournament had diverse multiplier effects within and across the socio-economic fabric of the state.
“We are quite aware of this, and we are determined to make a modest contribution in improving the national and international clout of the tournament.
“The tournament offers a unique opportunity for persons and entities of goodwill. We urge everyone to partner with the state government to make it a tourism hub in Nigeria and West Africa,” Audu said in a statement.
The advisor said NASCO was an award-winning leader in corporate social responsibility interventions for over half a century, and would continue to be.
He explained that the tournament was to showcase the company’s faith in Nigeria, the Nigerian Polo Federation, as well as the entire polo fraternity.
The advisor explained further that the group and the state government had the same fundamental commitment toward peace building initiatives.
“The tournament represents one of the genuine platforms to consolidate on the ongoing multifaceted efforts for peace by the state government.
“The stakeholders have invested and continue to invest valuable resources toward peaceful co-existence among and between citizens, residents and visitors alike.
“We are leading the corporate sector in the state in area of investment, promotion and sustenance of peace through sports,’’ he said.
According to him, sports were vital and practical tools through which individuals and corporate organisations can promote peace. (NAN)
