A journalist, Hudu A. Hudu has defeated the majority leader of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Tanko Tunga in All Progressives Congress, (APC ) primaries for Awe North State Constituency.
Hudu polled 20 votes, Tanko Tunga scored 10 votes and Suleiman Tunga zero vote.
The Journalist said, “I have being a practising broadcast journalist for 20 years with Nasarawa Broadcasting Service, ( NBS) and this is my maiden contest in mainstream politics, which was conducted in a safe atmosphere.
“I campaigned by visiting people in the grassroots and some times called the electorate on phone as obtainable in develop nations and told them my manifesto.
” I am calling on the electorate to continue voting wisely and ensure that only competent and credible leaders are voted to power.
“They should always conduct themselves peacefully and avoid any thing capable of truncating the electoral process.
“They should not allow money bag politicians buy their conscience and to later abandon them after the election,” Hudu said.
Tanko Tunga who lost to Hudu has being a member with the assembly for three consecutive terms.
The former Chairman of Awe Local Government, Alhaji Abubakar Dan-Akano commended the people for conducting a peaceful election.
Awe North State Constituency consists of six electoral wards. They are Kanje/Abuni, Jangaru, Madaki, Galadima, Makongiji and Tunga.
