By El-Yakub Dabai, Birnin Kebbi
The Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida has refuted the insinuation by the Peoples Democratic Party about non-transmission of executive power by the Governor whenever he travels out of Kebbi State.
Speaking at a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi, the Deputy Governor said the press statement issued by the opposition party on power transmission was uncalled for, except that PDP was trying to create a problem where there was none.
Senator Umar Tafida said from day one of the present administration whenever the Governor was out of Kebbi State or the country for official engagements he always entrusted the day-to-day operations and administration of the State to him as the Deputy Governor in ac or dance with the rule of law.
He explained that a very good understanding and cordial working relationship had been between the Executive Governor and himself as his Deputy.
Senator Umar Tafida said both the Governor, Deputy Governor and Members of the Executive Council were very united and committed to moving the state forward for the betterment of the good people of Kebbi State.
“There was never a time Kebbi State experienced power vacuum even for a day. Whenever the Governor was out of the state or country, he always delegated power to me. There is a very good understanding and working relationship between me and my Principal, the Executive Governor”, he emphasised.
“It came as a shock, the unwarranted meddlesome of the PDP in our working relations with the Governor. The PDP wants to instigate a problem where there is none. From day one on assumption of power, there was never a time the administration of Kebbi experienced power vacuum even for a day”, the deputy Governor remarked.
