Kebbi Governor Idris assures parents of safety of wards at schools

Comrade Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has assured parents of secondary school students in the state of enhanced security measures to ensure their safety.
The Governor has initiated consultations with stakeholders in the education sector to review and strengthen security protocols in post-primary schools.

This was contained in a statement by Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to Kebbi State Governor.
The consultation involves heads of the security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, renowned educationist and experienced security consultants.
This move follows the abduction of 25 female students from Government Girls Secondary School Maga, and aims to prevent similar incidents.
At the closing ceremony of this year’s Kebbi State Qur’anic Recitation, the
Governor represented by his Deputy Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida has appealed to parents to cooperate with the government and exercise patience as security arrangements are being overhauled.
The Governor was hopeful that the appointment of General Christopher Musa, who he had cordial and results oriented relationships with when he was Chief of Defence Staff, the solution to the armed banditry men gradually be overcome
The Governor, a former teacher, expressed his personal distress over the incident and emphasized the importance of education. He also called on wealthy politicians to support the state’s efforts to improve education standards.
The state government plans to reopen schools once security arrangements are concluded.
The Governor’s commitment to education and security is evident in his swift response to the Maga incident.
At the ceremony, the Emir of Gwandu was represented by the Galadiman Gwandu Alhaji Ibrahim Bashar KKB, the Emir of Argungu was represented by the Kunduda Alhaji Ibrahim Kwaido while the Emir of Zuru was represented by the Sadaukin Zuru Alhaji Abdullahi Idris Zuru.
Six participants from Zuru emirate were among those that worn different prizes ranging from motorcycle, refrigerator, sewing machine and complete set of bed and chairs.
