Kebbi Governor Idris donates N18m to state CAN to settle Christians pilgrims agency debt

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has donated the sum of N18 million to the state branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), to settle some debt incurred by the State Christian Pilgrims Affairs in the course of discharging its duties.
The Governor made this known while receiving the CAN leadership in the state led by its Chairman, Rev. Dr Ayuba Y Kanta on a courtesy visit at Government House, Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
The State Chief Executive also approved plots of land to be used for the Association’s cemetery, while promising to support the the religious body in its efforts to construct a secretariat in the state.
The governor used the occasion to announce the appointment of Mr Joel Aiki, former Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Agriculture as his Special Adviser on Food and Nutrition.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Rev. Dr Ayuba Y Kanta said: “You have given Christians enough political slots. This testifies your commitment in carrying all manner of people along irrespective of tribe or religious affiliation, therefore, we thank you for the inclusive governance.”
Kanta also lauded the efforts of the governor for restoring prevailing peace, especially in the Southern part of the state which hitherto used to be a haven for insurgency and banditry, showing gratitude for the return of farming activities.
