Kebbi Governor Idris runs debt-free administration – Accountant General

Kebbi State Accountant General, Bello Ibrahim Nahaliku says Governor Nasir Idris has been executing developmental projects and paying civil servants salaries besides gratuities and pension to retirees solely from statutory allocations and internally generated revenues.
The Accountant General while addressing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi further stated that the Governor’s management of scarce resources made him achieve a lot in both human and infrastructural developments without borrowing from local, national and international creditors.
Nahaliku said acts of governance based on borrowing had history of strangulating pasts administrations, stressing that such gesture was counterproductive, saying “it is evident that Governor Idris had put in place total facelift in the state capital through enviable infrastructural growth with no dine from loaners.”
He said having observed that Governor Idris had been tailoring his projects according to the available resources in the Government purse, the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) conferred on the Governor its prestigious Honorary Fellowship Award recently in Abuja to justify the confidence reposed in him.
“The Honorary Fellowship Award was also in recognition of the dedication of His Excellency to public service, support to the Association and his commitment to transparency and accountability in his Administration,” the Accountant General further said.
Nahaliku said it was a thing of beauty to the people of Kebbi State for having such a prestigious award on Governor Idris, being the first of its kind since the creation of Kebbi State 33 years a go besides being the only Governor that got the award amongst the thirty six states Governors of the Federation and Abuja.
He said the Governor was able to cover lots of miles in his administrative journey accompanied by myriad of developmental projects within his short stay in office through his open door policy as well as having a listening ear to the yearnings and aspirations of his people.
Nahaliku, while urging upcoming Accountants to thread the path of transparency and dedication to reach the pinnacle of their profession in the society however called on the people to double their support to the Governor Idris-led Administration as it was working round the clock to take the state and the people to higher heights of development.
