Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has issued a stern warning that his administration will deal decisively with bandits and their informants, leaving no room for their nefarious activities within the state.

The Governor made the emphatic statement during a condolence visit to Mera town in Augie Local Government Area on Monday, where bandits recently killed 17 people.

He described the attack as a tragic loss, not only for Mera and Argungu but for the entire nation, as Nigerians across the country mourned the victims.

Governor Idris emphasized that no meaningful development could take place in the absence of security of lives and property of the peopl, pledging to sustain the ongoing offensive against banditry, as the initial efforts had already yielded significant success in Zuru and Yauri Emirates, where peace enabled farmers to return to their fields.

The Governor showed his dismay over the reprisal attacks that claimed the lives of some fulanis in the area, saying, “my administration will not condone acts of jungle justice. Report any suspicions to appropriate authorities for immediate action. I have directed the immediate arrest of those responsible for the unjust killings”

Earlier, the Chairman of Augie Local Government Area, Yahaya Muhammad, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s prompt response to the tragedy and his proactive measures to address the security challenges in the area.

At the Palace of the District Head of Augie, Alhaji Samaila Adamu, Governor Idris addressed Fulani leaders and victims, reiterating his disapproval of reprisal attack and assured them of justice.

The Governor announced a donation of ten million Naira to support the Fulani victims and pledged additional relief assistance to aid their rehabilitation.

One of the victims, Rugga Hore Mera, informed the Governor that three members of his household were killed during the attack.
