Kebbi indigenous contractor, others begin construction of Dabai-Mahuta-Koko road, promising to live above board

An indigenous construction company, ZBCC, along other two foreign ones have commenced the construction of the most desired 87 Kilometre Dabai-Mahuta-Koko road after several years of difficult commuting by motorists and travellers.

The Federal Government road which suffered serious neglect and imparted negatively on the socioeconomic lives of the people of Zuru Emirate and environs was brought to reality by Governor Nasir Idris who pursued the release of the road to the State Government for reconstruction with an agreement of reimbursement.

While flagging off the construction of the road, Governor Idris said: “Due to road’s significance, the state government decided to divide the project into three sections and awarded each sector to peculiar contractor to facilitate completion within the timeframe.

“We shall monitor it strictly, our professionals will routinely supervise execution of the job. But, let me warn transporters, there must not be overloading by trucks plying the road after completion to ensure longevity, government will set up a committee to ensure compliance”, Governor Idris stressed

The Managing Director of the indigenous company, Adamu Hussaini, said he was happy that the Governor had confidence in them, promising to execute durable and qualitative road that would stand the test of time for smoother vehicular traffic as well as movement of goods and services.

“As an indigenous company, I know all eyes would be on us to see if we would live above board. We will be handling the 25 kilometre Dabai-Mahuta section of the road. I am assuring the Governor and the people of the state, especially Zuru Emirate where I come from that we would justify the confidence reposed in ZBCC. We would do the job that would live indelible marks in sands of history”, Hussaini assured.

The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdullahi Umar Faruk Muslim, explained that 40% mobilisation fees has been advanced to the contractors to facilitate the pace of the road construction that would boost economic activities from Zuru Emirate to not only the state capital, but to also neighboring States and countries of Niger and Benin Republics..

“The job is to be completed in 18 months timeframe. ZBBC will handle 25km from Dabai-Mahuta, Habeeb Engineering Ltd. will execute 25km from Mahuta-Marafa while JNIC is to construct 37km from Marafa -Koko. The government is sounding a warning that any contractor who violates specifications will not be paid”, Muslim warned.
