Kebbi State Police Command has identified journalists as serious partners for the successful fight against crime and criminality in the society as Government tightens its belt towards effectively protecting the lives and property of the people.
The Commissioner of Police, Chris Aimionowane made this known on Tuesday when he paid a courtesy visit to the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Birnin Kebbi.
He said journalists possessed privileged information about all activities in the society that can be properly harnessed to bring about positive developments, noting that the State Police Command would form a strong synergy with them to that effect.
CP Aimionowane said that the idea of societal security was everybody’s business and therefore called on the Press to volunteer positive information that would expose criminals and their hideouts as well as those abetting their nefarious activities for Police prompt action.
Responding, the Chairman NUJ Kebbi Council, Comrade Garba Mohammed Yaldu, thanked the CP for the visit and promised the support of journalists to the Command towards sustaining the peace Kebbi State was known for since its creation thirty-two years ago.
As the fourth estate of the realm, according to the Chairman, journalists owed the nation a duty of pushing out to the society information that would ensure the peaceful coexistence amongst Nigerians besides making it a crime free society.
