Kebbi releases N715m for foreign studies

Governor Nasir Idris has approved the release of about N715 million for students of Kebbi State origin studying in foreign universities.

Briefing the Media in Birnin Kebbi, this Thursday, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar Tunga, announced that the funds have since been disbursed to respective institutions.

“The sum of N177.35 million has been paid for registration, tuition, upkeep, visa extension and internship for 28 students in Subharti and GD Goenka Universities, India”,

“N117.7 million was paid as upkeep allowances for 25 Kebbi students studying Medicine in 7 Universities in Egypt”,

“70.2 million was released as financial assistance to some Kebbi students studying Pharmacy, Medical and Allied Sciences in Jaipur National and GD Goenka Universities, India”,

“N349.7 million was paid for registration, tuition and upkeep allowances for 35 students leaving Nigeria for Ethiopia to study Medicine and Pharmacy”, the Commissioner narrated.

Tunga further announced that Governor Nasir Idris has approved the appointment of Nurse-Dr. Muhammad Murtala Musa, as the Pioneer Provost of the Kauran Gwandu College of Midwifery Sciences, Ambursa, near Birnin Kebbi.

“The Ministry for Higher Education remains committed to the high quality standard attached to educational development by Governor Idris”, he remarked.
