Kebbi Special Adviser leads ‘Kaura Skill Up Project’ in sensitizing youth on self reliance, drug abuse menace

The youth, numbering in hundreds with Governor Idris younger brother, Shehu Idris, in attendance had walked through the streets with banners denouncing drug abuse amongst the youth and eulogizing the governor’s relentless developmental successes across the state.

The politician while addressing the gathering shortly after the road walk said, the purpose of the exercise was to buttress the importance of youth empowerment through skills acquisition as well as educate the youth on the dangers of drug abuse in the society.

He stressed that Governor Idris had good plans and love for the youth as exemplified in the number of young Commissioners, Special Advisers and other political office holders, adding that the continued support to students studying within and outside the country was another success story for the youth worthy of mention.

Moukhtar further remarked that: “It becomes imperative for my office to educate people with less age in the society to know the vices of drug abuse to their health, economy as well as the security of the nation. The only way to win their minds is by providing job opportunities through skills acqusion. Be certain, our government is poised on that”.

In his remarks, younger brother to governor Idris and a supporter of Kaura Skill Up Project, Shehu Idris, told the crowd that Kebbi State Government had provided free fertilizers, solar and CNG powered irrigation pumps to farmers to facilitate food production and farming business, with the youth being the highest beneficiaries.

He therefore called on them to embrace skills acquisition to achieve meaningful life style, reminding them drug abuse would not only lead them to miserable end economically but also medical implications would trail them erasing their marks in the sands of history.

Also speaking, the representative of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, Kebbi Command, Ibrahim Imam Sokoto, charged them to imbibe the spirit of good virtues for a prosperous society, assuring to provide free rehabilitation and counseling services to those who gave up drug abuse in order breed productive human resources in the state.
