Kebbi to establish commission for people with disability, upgrades chieftaincy affairs

Kebbi State Government has stepped up practical measures for the establishment of the commission for persons with disability as well as improve the status of chieftaincy affairs in the state.
This was announced by the Hon. Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK during a press briefing held at Government House, Birnin Kebbi shortly after the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Nasir Idris on Wednesday.
He explained that the decision to establish the commission for persons with disability was reached at the State Executive Council meeting and agreed to send the Bill to the legislature following requests by the affected persons to have their supervisory agency.
Being a national issue which needed to be domesticated, the Commissioner said Governor Nasir Idris had already directed the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State to prepare the bill and be brought to the Council meeting for onward transmission to State House of Assembly for ratification.
Ahmed also announced that besides agreeing to look into the upward review of monthly allocations to the four Emirs, consenting to the request of the royal fathers to appoint their Council Secretaries, Governor Idris had also approved the holding of the annual Rigata Cultural Festival of Yauri Emirate slated for 7 to 10, February, 2024
“While submissions have been made for approval in view of time constraints, the governor has directed immediate release of funds to the emirate to start preparations, being the first cultural festival to be performed under the guidance of the present administration”, he averred.
