Maintenance agency reassures on rehabilitation of roads

By Sunny A. David, Awka
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Road Maintenance Agency, (ARMA), Engineer Emeka Okoye, says no effort will be spared by the Agency to ensure rehabilitation of all deplorable roads in all parts of the state.
Engineer Okoye gave this assurance while featuring in the latest edition of ABS News and Current Affairs Radio and Television program “Face the press.”
He enumerated some ongoing and completed road rehabilitation in the three Senatorial Districts of the State to include; Azia-Orsumoghu road, Aguluzigbo-Ekwulobia roundabout, three-three axis, Upper Iwekka to Ochanja market in the Onitsha Metropolis and Amawbia Roundabout to the By-pass as well as Central Bank-Roban Stores axis in the State capital among others.
The ARMA boss blamed heavy duty trucks especially those conveying bags of cement for avoidable damage caused on Trunk-B Roads in the state, and hinted that government might soon be compelled to restrict them from plying certain roads in the State.
Engineer Okoye equally implored the citizenry to shun actions such as emptying wastes into drainages and burning of used tyres on tarred roads, pointing out that such actions often cause road deterioration across the state.
