Minna Emirate Youth Council (MEYC) have written to the Emirate requesting for a sanction against a former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu for allegedly organising Sallah against the directive of the Emirate.

Minna Emirate, for several years have stopped Sallah Durbar to commiserate with the victims of security challenges in some of the local government areas of the Emirate.

The former Governor however staged his own Durbar at his farm and the Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago was in attendance briefly during the last Sallah.

Peeved by the development, the Minna Emirate Youth Council in letter dated 20th April, 2024, with Serial Number MEYC /ADM/Vol 1 addressed to the Emirate and obtained by our correspondent requested for sanction from the Emirate.

The letter signed by its secretary Isyaku Musa Beri stated that “By repeatedly staging the Sallah Durbar without authorization Talban Minna has shown disrespect for constituted authority and has acted in defiance of the principles that holds our Emirate so dear”.

Isyaku in the letter of Emirate youth noted that it is essential that the integrity and sanctity of the royals stool be upheld by obeying the rules and regulations set forth by the Emirate.

Consequently the Minna Emirate Youth Council, requested for a sanction to be imposed on Talban Minna to deter any further disregard for the order of the Emirate.

The council also recommended “urgent and swift tripping of the title of Talban Minna if ever repeat such action” adding that will send a signal that disregard to Emirate’s directives will not be tolerated.
