Nigeria President, Buhari commissions projects executed by Governor Umahi in Ebonyi

President Muhammadu Buhari has commissioned several projects constructed by Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state at his hometown Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state.

The projects include the King David University of Medical Sciences, the university’s teaching hospital, the twin flyover and dual carriage way which passes through the university to Mpu in Enugu state among others.

Mr. President who arrived the state on two days working visit on Thursday arrived Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu, thereafter he proceeded to Uburu.

Buhari is expected to fly back to Abuja on Friday.

He however commended governor David Umahi for his outstanding projects in the state and for associating with the federal government towards the actualization of the work.

“I thank you also for associating the federal government with the construction of the projects and though I am not an engineer, I can see with my eyes that the project looks like one that would last”, he said

Earlier, governor Umahi appealed to the federal government to take over the university’s teaching hospital because it was beyond the scope of any state to manage.

Umahi said that the hospital would solve the challenges of medical tourism confronting the country because it has the best of facilities that can be found anywhere in the world.

“It has a heart surgery department, the best Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) facilities, among others.

He further thanked the president for his numerous assistance towards the realisation of the King David University of Medical Sciences.

The governor explained that project was done through direct labour while the twin flyover in the area were actualized at the cost of 2 billion naira.

“It was constructed through direct labour by our people and the 700 metres twin-flyover which passes through the university cost N2 billion.

Mr President would Friday meet with south east stakeholders at the newly commissioned Executive Council at the Centenary city, Abakiliki.
