Nigerian youths have been urged to develop the entrepreneurial skills needed to be impactful to the society and not to depend on white collar jobs for them to be self-employed and grow positively.

A teacher and an entrepreneur, Mr. Timothy Yusuf made the call while speaking in a one day lecture on MSMEs: the Basis for Entrepreneurship at the unveiling ceremony of a Community Based Organization, Center for Leadership, Peace and Youths Development in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Yusuf, who cautions those believed that government jobs are more secured than going into business to change their mindset and go into different kind of businesses.

“Many Nigerian youths believe in white-collar jobs especially in Southern part of Kaduna State. Government jobs are considered to be the best and lucrative for graduate.

“Many find it difficult to engage in entrepreneurship. As such, the rate of crime is on the increase. What we see today is impoverishment and economic sabotage.

“Many youths find it easy to beg using corporate methods rather than device means of entrepreneurship. Even as a working class graduates, many do not see the need to embark on entrepreneurship.” He said

He said relying on a single source of income in this time of economic hardship is a very risk decision as even the government jobs that people look as a security is no more secured. “How many workers were sacked or are forcefully resigned and are aimlessly waiting arms folded without knowing their fate?” He asked

“I am not saying that you should not accept government’s job, but do something in addition to it and don’t relied on a single source of income. Think big, plan big and act on it because, action takers are money makers, and the time to act is now.” He said

He also urged the participants to train their younger ones and introduce them into entrepreneurship as it is the future of the world.

Yusuf added that no entrepreneur suddenly becomes big without starting somewhere, either with micro, small or medium enterprises, ” an entrepreneur usually starts somewhere sometimes small but end up becoming big,” he added

Earlier in his opening remark, the Founder/CEO, Center for Leadership, Peace and Youths Development, Mr. Joel Adegboyega said his passion for humanitarian services was the reason behind the establishment of the NGO with the aim of training the youths on different skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and giving soft loans to market women and youths with single digits interest.

Adegboyega, said the Center will, among many other things, be a research center, leadership center, empowerment/support in terms of skill, finance, loans, peace building center and a platform for people to come and interact positively.

Also, the center will serve as a mediation and negotiation centre, a peace building centre, a platform where youths will receive re-orientation for their lives, a centre to liberate the people from poverty and centre for wealth creation for people and the nations.

“We shall operate starting from here to all nations of the world. We shall produce sound leaders with sound mind and knowledge to take charge of the affairs of nations politically and economically.

“Life is a journey, a journey into great future, a journey into liberty in every sphere of life. You can succeed in life’s journey only if you have a great and positive mind, only if you preconditioned your mind to success,” he added.
