Nigerian gay man on the run

A Nigerian gay man is on the run as the Anambra State Police Command has declared him wanted.
Mr. Peter Sunday is wanted by Police authority to answer for a case of unnatural offence and murder.
In an extract letter from Anambra State Police Commissioner by Divisional Police Officer, Fegge Division, Onitsha, Anambra State dated 2nd March, 2022, it detailed the offences of Peter Sunday.
According Police extract, on the 16th of February, 2020, Peter Sunday and Ugochukwu Ibekwu were caught in the act of having sex by the junior brother of Ugochukwu one Ikenna Ibekwe in Onitsha.
The two gay men were resident in Onitsha.
On hearing the story, the village youths bounched on the same sex men with beatings, claiming that such an act was a taboo to their culture and tradition.
The pleas by the two gay men for forgiveness fell on deaf ears.
However, the younger brother of Peter Sunday, Tochukwu Ezeneche defended his brother and his friend in the process, Peter Sunday escaped to unknown destination.
According to the Police, on arrival to the scene Tochukwu Ezeneche and Ugochukwu Ibekwu slumped on the spot and was confirmed dead when taken to the hospital.
Since the incident, the whereabout of Peter Sunday is unknown.
Part of the Police extract reads thus: “However, effort is still being intensified as surveillance has been mounted around the area, so as to gather reliable information towards apprehending the run away Peter Sunday, ‘m’, immediately this is achieved, the development will be communicated, please.”
Our correspondent understands that the Federal Republic of Nigeria has anti-gay law with severe penalties despite the protest of Western countries especially United States of America, the United Kingdom and the European Union.
