No village under control of bandits in Kebbi State – Deputy Governor

The Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida has described as pure imagination of enemies of progress that some villages are in the hands of bandits that recently emerged in Northern parts of the state.

He said the recently purported publication by an online Newspaper that made the claim was untrue, stressing that Government had already strengthened the security situation of all operatives to the status of repelling insurgents attempting to destabilise any community.

The Deputy Governor admitted that some bandits had recently attacked Mera village in Augie Local Government Area were they killed 17 people which prompted Government, National Assembly Members and Ministers from the state to donate about one hundred million Naira to the families of the deceased.

Tafida who was addressing Newzmen in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, further disclosed that in order to safeguard lives and property of the affected communities, Government had sent a powerful deligation to the Chief of Defence Staff in respect of the unveiling ugly develipments

He said the delegation was led by the former Governor of Kebbi State and Minister of Economic Planning, Sen. Atiku Bagudu in company of Sen. Bala Ibn Na’Allah, APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu and a former Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of the State, Barrister Nasiru Junju.

The Deputy Governor assured the people of the state that Government would not abandon them during such hard times of security challenges, urging them to have confidence in Kauran Gwandu led Administration by reporting suspicious activities that could jeopardize the peace of the state to security operatives for prompt action.
