North-East Christian youths says invasion of residence of former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello politically motivated

The recent invasion of the residence of the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been condemned in strong terms and described as victimisation.

The assertion was made by Ambassador Shedrack Bamaiyi, Leader of Nigerian Christian Youths Forum, North-East Zone while speaking with journalists in Bauchi on Thursday.

Bamaiyi who was reacting to the development said that, “for a record, I had never seen a true Nigerian as patriotic as Yahaya Bello. Remember when Nigeria is about to go down the drain during that period where people of the North can no longer take their goods, particularly Cows to the South for sales without harassment, it was the former Governor who intervened.”

He added that,”Infact, it led to an extent where the Northerners were about to call for retaliation and it was Yahaya Bello that stood in the gab and stabilized this nation at that critical time.”

He also said that, “Remember also the time of #endsars when the youths of this nation refused to hear anybody’s counseling, it was the same Yahaya Bello that bridged in the gab and brought them to table, haba! Is this how we reward patriotism in this nation?”

The Christian Youths Leader further said that,”Ok, coming to your question.” Do I think is Justified? Please, do you? Justification in what sense?
Remember there must be a victim before a crime can be said to have been committed. In this case, who is the victim please ? When the state, Kogi in particular said that none of its money is missing, no, please, tell me is this justified?”

He stressed that,”The court in its wisdom, passed a ruling that he should not be harass by EFCC, why are they after him? Why are they disobeying the Court? Is EFCC greater than the law?”

“Please, they are forcing us to begin to think that this is politically motivated. No, this is true, come to look at it, when this noble man came out to contest for President of the country, they do that brouhaha, it didn’t stand, now that they see people calling on him for the position of APC National Party Chairman, they raised another brouhaha. Please, who is EFCC working for? Is it Nigerians or someone somewhere? Please, they need to come clean on this,” he added.

According to him,”For good 8 years, this man governed Kogi state, which makes Kogi state what it is today as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria, with a world class infrastructural development all in the name of Yahaya Bello, but still this EFCC are saying otherwise.”

Bamaiyi concluded saying, “Honestly, I am short of words, EFCC is a credible organization but something is wrong somewhere now and the people of Nigeria need an explanation, but for we at Nigerian Christian Youths Forum, we know this man is clean and history will prove us right.”
