Ogbaru Anglican Diocese holds 5th Synod, urges faithful to intensify evangelism

The first session of the 5th Synod of Ogbaru Diocese has ended with a call on Christians to make preparations and embrace the second coming of Christ.
The synod officiated by the Bishop of the Diocese, Right Reverend Prosper Amah held at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, East Niger attracted dignitaries across the state and beyond.
In his sermon, the Guest Speaker, Venerable Iloka stressed the need for Christians to have an encounter with Christ.
He said without the passion of Christ, Christianity will be meaningless adding the knowledge of word of God transforms life.
Speaking at the event, the Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo underscored synod as crucial in the church calendar, as it provides the platform and avenue to deliberate on issues as it affect the church and the Diocese at large.
On his part, the pioneer Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese and Bishop of Aguata Diocese Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor who spoke on the theme of the synod observed that such is apt, stressing that the mystery of Christian faith is captured in the death, resurrection and victory, of Jesus Christ which according to him is the hallmark of Christian faith
He said if Christ had not raised the Christian hope would have been in vain
In his speech, Governor Willie Obiano represented by his Special Assistant on School Monitoring, Dame Chinyere Mbakwe commended the growth of evangelism in the area, noting that his passion for civil servants is immeasurable.
Earlier in his presidential address, Bishop Amah noted that the message of the gospel has lost focus on the lessons of resurrection power and second coming of Christ.
He lamented the level of moral decadence in the society and urged Christians to strive to be prepared at all times.
The Prelate extolled, Governor Obiano for his giant strides in developing all sectors of the economy.
Cutting of synod cake and launching of Bishop’s address featured while Thanksgiving, praise and worship as well as renditions by the choir added color to the event.
