Alhaji Umar Damagum
Alhaji Umar Damagum’s tenure as an acting chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as expired six months after his acting capacity.
The current seat of the National Chairman of the PDP belongs to North Central GeoPolitical Zone of the party as per the existing power sharing arrangement established to maintain a Political equilibrium.
To extend his illegality, Damagum constituted the National Reconciliation Committee and National Disciplinary Committee in a ploy to extend his stay.
Damagum’s continued occupation of the seat of National Chairman of PDP is causing political disequilibrium and is aimed at destabilizing the party, this is the clear message!
Damagum’s recent composition of two Committees with party’s good names as members is meant to extend his illegitimate tenure in his continuation to destabilize the party.
Damagum lacks the moral authority to reconcile the factions within the party because he is well known to belong to a faction and therefore cannot be neutral.
Damagum is part of the problems of the party as of today. Damagum’s hands are not clean, he must be avoided.
Nobody will respect the outcome of his Reconciliation Committee and therefore it will be an exercise in futility.
Damagum can not discipline anybody, he himself needs to be disciplined. Damagum has committed treasons (capital offenses) against our great party by all his current visible actions.
The highly esteemed members of PDP who have been selected by Damagum to serve in the two committees should, in their own interests, reject the appointments and should NOT present themselves for the inauguration slated for Wednesday 21st August 2024.
If they show up for inauguration, they will be supporting Damagum’s illegality, illegitimacy and treason!
An Emergency NEC Meeting should be called by securing the signatories of two-thirds of the NEC Members to rescue the party from the present NWC under the leadership of Damagum. No more trust nor confidence on the NWC members.
The emergency meeting should be organized by the present PDP Governors with the following governors coordinating their respective zones:
- Governor of Zamfara State to coordinate the NorthWest NEC Members,
- Governor of Taraba State to coordinate the NorthEast NEC Members.
- Governor of Plateau State to coordinate the NorthCentral NEC members including those members from the FCT.
- Governor of Enugu State to coordinate the NEC members from the SouthEast GeoPolitical zone.
- Governor of Osun State to coordinate the NEC Members from SouthWest GeoPolitical Zone.
- Governor of Rivers State to coordinate the NEC Members from SouthSouth GeoPolitical zone.
- The Governor of Bauchi state to coordinate the signatures of NEC Members from all the six(6) GeoPolitical zones.
The Venue of the Emergency NEC meeting to be at one of the PDP Governors’ lodges in FCT where adequate security will be assured.
Damagum can be tamed as nobody can continuously ridicule the PDP and get away with it. PDP must be rescued!
Damagum has done enormous damages to the party and must be stopped forthwith.
The PDP Governors are hereby charged to assume their patriotic responsibilities and rescue the party from Damagum and his cohorts.
