Peace, tolerance are tools for societal growth- Kebbi Governor Idris echoes in Yuletide

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has called on the people of Kebbi State and Nigeria at large to embrace peace, tolerance, and mutual understanding, urging citizens to remain their brothers’ keepers at all times especially during the Yuletide seasons.
The Governor made this call in his 2025 Christmas message to the Christian community in the state.
Reflecting on the significance of Christmas, Governor Idris reminded Christians to view the season as a period of sober reflection, love, joy, sacrifice and forgiveness towards their neighbours and humanity as a whole.
The governor, who extended Christmas greetings to Kebbi State branch of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the entire Christians around the world, expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the opportunity to serve the people of the state better.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to religious freedom, assuring that his government remained resolute in protecting people of all faiths from all sorts of violence and rancour.
He commended the Christians community in in the State for its contribution to societal growth and development, noting that the teachings of Christ have inspired many to care for the vulnerable, promote harmony and foster peaceful coexistence within their communities.
“The season serves as a reminder that despite challenges confronting the nation, faith and hope remain vital sources of strength,” the Governor noted.
The Governor also reiterated his administration’s resolve to safeguard the State, and ensure unity and stability, stressing that all people across the state deserved the right to live, worship and pursue their aspirations regardless of ethnicity, tribe or religious belief.
“As your Governor, I remain committed to doing everything within my power to facilitate religious freedom by protecting people of different faiths from violence.No one, regardless of ethnicity or belief, should be made to suffer for professing and practising his faith,” he said.
On security, Governor Idris disclosed that he had engaged religious leaders from both faith in praying for lasting peace across the state, adding that such engagements haf further strengthened unity, promoted collaboration and prevented conflicts in the State.
