Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, has raised concerns over the escalating threat to educational institutions following recent incidents of mass abductions in Nigeria. Speaking out against the abduction of 287 school children and teachers from LEA primary school, Kuriga, and the reported abduction of 87 individuals from Kajuru station, Katung emphasized the need for swift and strategic action to address the alarming trend.

Describing schools as sanctuaries for learning, Katung condemned the recurrent kidnappings as a direct assault on the country’s educational system. Expressing solidarity with Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State and the affected families, he pledged collaborative efforts from the Senate to combat the menace.

Warning against the normalization of such atrocities, Katung stressed the urgency of implementing effective measures to prevent further incidents of kidnapping and criminality. Failure to address these challenges, he cautioned, would perpetuate a cycle of violence and instability in communities across the nation.

In his call for decisive action, Senator Katung underscored the importance of safeguarding the future of education and ensuring the safety of students and educators nationwide.
