A former Governor of Kano State Malam Ibrahim Shekarau has officially announced his defection to All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking at a rally Saturday in Kano at his Mudubawa residence, Shekarau explained that his defection was necessary after many attempts to address the rift between PDP’s new entrants and older members.
According to him, political appointments or position seeking has never been his priority but was concern about the future of Kano and Nigeria.
He pointed out the PDP national body has taken sides by violating the court order that called for the maintenance of the status quo of state party executives duly elected.
Shekarau pointed out that the PDP national leadership went ahead and dissolved the executives and constituted a caretaker committee comprising virtually of Kwankwasiyya loyalists.
