Taraba NUT chairman says delay in July salary for primary school teachers not deliberate

By Celestine Ihejirika, Jalingo

Primary school teachers in Taraba State have been urged not to panic over delay in the payment of July salary as the whole process was not deliberate.

The state chairman of the union, Comrade Nathan Solomon disclosed this to our correspondent in a telephone chat on Wednesday.

According to him, teachers in the state have nothing to panic about as the present administration of Governor Agbu Kefas placed a high premium on education, particularly the welfare of teachers across board.

The chairman who commended the governor for prioritizing teacher’s welfare in the state appreciated the primary school’s teachers for their patience.

He attributed the delay in the payments of the salary to a network glitch from the bank, saying the union leadership agreed that cheque be issued to the directors of finance of the remaining local government areas, whose primary school teachers were yet to be paid to ease the payment process.

Comrade Solomon also commended the efforts of the Commissioner of Education, Doctor Augustina Godwin and the Acting Chairperson of Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB), Mrs Rabi Sunday for working tirelessly to ensure teachers receive their salaries.

He urged those yet to access their own to exercise a little patience as they will soon receive their salaries.

At the time of filing this report, indications emerged that Gashaka Local Government Council which is among the eight left unpaid that payment has commenced.
