Three PDP legislators join ruling party in Kebbi as APC kick-starts campaign for LG polls

Three members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly have on Saturday defected from Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling Party, APC, at a rally in Koko town flagging off campaign for Local Government polls billed for the 31st of August this year.
The State APC Chairman, Abubakar Kana Zuru, while presenting the defectors to the gathering, announced that the party had received many decampees from PDP but prominent among them were the three State House of Assembly members from Argungu, Hon. Umar NaAmore, Hon.Yusuf Tilli from Bunza and Hon.Hashimu Namaliyo from Yauri constituency respectfully.
Kana also presented PDP ward Chairmen and their Secretaries from Danko Wasagu Local Government Area and a prominent women leader, Hajiya Lami Dudu with her supporters from Yauri Local Government who dumped PDP and joined APC, assuring them of equal treatment in the party.
The Chairman appreciated the decampees for what he described as a wise decision, saying, “We are not going to leave you behind, the incumbent administration is doing alot to better the lives of people of the state as you are aware”.
“APC remained a party for all, we will do justice to all in line with principles of fair play, our Governor has touched the lives of the people irrespective of party affiliation”, he said .
Governor Nasir Idris who expressed happiness over the development, assured them of equal opportunity and treatment, justice and fairness in all political ramifications, stressing that his administration was willing to work harmoniously with the defectors to ensure quality service to people as well as maintain accountability in its dealings.
“You are living witnesses to the ongoing execution of projects across the state. Iam always ready to join hands In sha Allah with all the stakeholders to make Kebbi great. The defection to APC would surely add more impetus to the party, particularly with the local government elections that was around the corner.” He said
While presenting flags to Local Government Chairmanship Candidates, the Governor said the historic event signified the readiness of the state government for the polls that remained crucial to the socioeconomic development of Kebbi and its citizens particularly those at the grassroots level.
Governor Idris further said, “This happy trajectory of even infrastructural development being done by the APC-led administration in the state will be hugely sustained with APC LG Chairmen in office”.
He therefore urged the flag bearers to be committed, patient and fair to the APC cause, to make Kebbi State more stronger and also appealed to the people of the state to renew their confidence in APC and massively vote for its candidates during the polls.
