Timely auctioning of public property’ll generate trillions for Nigeria -National President Auctioneers

National President, Nigeria Association of Auctioneers, Alhaji Aliyu Kiliya says Nigeria will generates trillions of naira if MDAs handling the recently decentralized auctioneering of public items from Federal Ministry of Justices expedite action in disposing the items accordance with complying with public procurement policy.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja on Sunday, the President worries that, the public items are loosing values day by day as a result of technical deformation, vandalization, weather defection, aged among others. Adding that, if quick disposal is not done the federal government will generate just little from the auctioning.
According to Kiliya, the institutions includes, Federal Ministry of Justice, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC), Ministry of Defence among others that are in custody of the recovered items.
The Auctioneering Consultant advised the institutions in custody of the public assets to do the needful instead of harboring personal interest. He said they should insure that certain professional measures be put in place for the disposal of the public property.
“Those organizations saddled with the responsibility to dispose these assets should ensure that any auctioneer they want to engage must have the experience, and can defend the institution in case of litigations by applying rules and regulations during the disposal of assets” he noted.
While commending the management of NELMCO and Nigerian Navy, (NA), Transmission Company of Nigeria, (TAN), Corporate Affairs Commission, (CAC), among others for complying with the procedures of public procurement policy, Kiliya emphasized that these professional services entails providing the level playing ground for buyers to bid freely for their choices which will not only generate revenue for the government, but will also help the government in disposing hard sales items among others.
