The Cross River State Commissioner for Sports, Agnes Atsu has disclosed that they are determined to revive sports and needs all stakeholders to achieve their developmental goals.
She told Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, in the state who called on her in her office since resuming office that as a woman she will want to prove her mettle by making sports to shine. She assured that with political supports she will take sports to a great height…”
“We need SWAN and other stakeholders. We need cooperation by working hand in hand. We want collaborations. The aim is to take the state to higher levels. We will participate in many competitions.
She said their interest to develop the sector has become overriding, pledging to partner with relevant stakeholders in the sector as a way of vring all hands on deck.
“Our governor, Prince Bassey Otu is very interested in sports development. He wants to focus on sports development as it is very important to overall interests of all.
She disclosed that SWAN will be part and parcel of sports programmes in the state and will nominate members for some committees.
” Governor Bassey Otu wants to revamp sports, develop it and make it money spinner”, she said.
On being the first female commissioner for sports in the state, Atsu said “I feel like a champion and would want to demonstrate it by being conspicuous in performance and attracting, hosting and winning competitions.”
